A weekend away: Stoke Place Hotel
If you’re looking to spend some one-on-one time with your partner why not whisk them away to Stoke Place Hotel?
Located just two miles away from Windsor's city centre, Stoke Place is a tranquil paradise. The 4-star hotel is a spectacular 17th century Queen Anne country mansion house and is surrounded by 26 acres of picturesque parkland to lose yourself in.
The rooms
The hotel has 39 guest bedrooms that are luxuriously appointed and spacious.
We were lucky enough to be put up in the Queen Anne junior suite with breathtaking views of the gardens.
Where to eat
The hotel boasts The King & Lamb restaurant which serves up a dinner menu that changes virtually every week to ensure that the best of seasonal local produce is continually served to the diners.
The head chef has worked in three Rosette restaurants and alongside Michelin starred chefs and all that shows in the quality of food that’s brought out.
The staff are attentive and knowledgeable in their particular areas. If you fancy a bottle of wine for your meal and you’re not sure what to opt for, make sure to have a chat to the head sommelier who will guide you (shout out to Mark).
The restaurant is also famous for their afternoon teas and, come late afternoon, a real buzz builds up as excited guests tuck into a delicious spread of warm scones, savoury and sweet treats and lots and lots of tea.
The hotel also has The Butterfly Bar, which is tucked away with secluded romantic alcoves for you to hide from the crowd and whisper sweet nothings to each other in. They serve the classic cocktails and a range of their own which they’ll happily recommend and explain to you.
What to do
The spectacular gardens and lakes that surround the hotel will make you feel as if you’ve stepped into a of fairytale.
In the summer, the hotel offers picnic baskets and bottles of prosecco for you to buy so you can have an afternoon of enjoying the sunshine and the beautiful scenery while sipping on a nice glass of fizz.
On our visit we even spotted a mother goose with her little goslings following her about - adorable!
